I hope you saw my post on Instagram from the ASID awards on Saturday night. I know the pictures were a little dark. The venue was great (Bayou City Events Center) but the lighting was dim, so we could see the screen.
We took home the award for Best Use of Hard Surfaces, this lovely room was designed by Jennifer Loh, finished and hand painted by us.
It was a great night. Of course, it’s always nice when you win! It did give us all a chance to mix and mingle with other professionals in the design industry socially which we seldom get to do. Creative people really are a fun group. If you pick up a copy of Houston Design Resources magazine you will get a glimpse of the winning rooms in all the categories. Contemporary was big with Laura Umansky of Laura U. She took home “Best in Show” and got the cover of the magazine. Margie Slovack of Slovack-Bass won awards for commercial, as well as residential. Jane Page Crump of Jane Page Design Group got awards for interior and exterior spaces. Chandos Dodson took home her share of awards, too. One of our newer designers, Marie Flannigan got an award for a commercial space. We are so proud to work with these creative people. Not only do they give us a livelihood but they are nice people to work for.
There are many more we haven’t named but their work is just as impressive. They will be on the ASID site by the end of the week. Please check all these out at: www.asidtgcc.org.
