Happy Earth Day, Everyone!
April 22 is the annual event called Earth Day, where worldwide, everyone is urged to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 and got the branded as being a "hippie thing." Well, 44 years later, with good science behind it and real concern for our planet, it is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.
Our industry of decorative painting has come a long way when it comes to going green. When we got started 25 years ago, most of the products we used were oil-based and terrible for the environment (and the humans working with them). In the past 20 years, there have been great leaps in making products that perform well and are less damaging to the earth. At Anything But Plain, we use a line of products that use a water-based technology, are non-toxic and environmentally friendly. They also perform better than the old type of materials and it helps us do our part in keeping the environment clean.
Remember when looking for paint to look for No VOCs. VOCs are volatile organic compounds. The higher the VOCs, the harder it is on you and your environment. Our earth is in trust to us for the next generation. Let’s hand it over in working order!
Here a few tips we found that every home owner can do to pitch in all year around to help protect the environment.
- Conserve water all year around. Find out ways to save water from the bathroom to the backyard!
- Join the Arborday Foundation and you can get 10 free trees!
- Buy eco-friendly cleaning supplies.
How are you participating in Earth Day 2014? Let us know by sending us an email or leaving a comment below, we’d love to hear from you.
