Vacation season is just around the corner!
Despite the cold snap that tried to spoil our springtime fun, summer is on its way and with it the travel bug. Of course, for every great adventure you need a good map! This week I could not get away from all the inspiration I found on Pinterest for ways to use map themes in home decor. They make a great statement piece and can tie into family history or grand memories from past travels.
What in the World?
These reused globe lamps were the first thing I noticed. What a clever way to re-purpose a globe that might otherwise be collecting dust in storage somewhere.
I just love this twist on the oversized colorful world map for this kids room. The mix of patterns is wonderful and makes learning geography fun for the kiddos.
And what could be better than this DIY gilded world map? This little gem makes great use of gold leaf, glimmering right into our hearts.
All these maps remind me of a highrise living room we did in New Orleans. We hand painted this world map mural and made a special designation at each city the family had visited in their travels.
Who wouldn't want this adorable USA map bookshelf! Not only does it makes a great piece of art but also very functional.
Lastly, this collection of map art blew me away! All those tiny little dots are actually pieces of maps. Click on the photo to see the rest of the close ups that make up the large design. They are so intricately crafted, it's simply stunning.
